Communication equipment

Bringing together our engineers' expertise to ensure that our customers' passengers and staff receive the information they need

Communication equipment is needed to provide information on operations and services. This could take the form of warning train drivers about strong winds or informing passengers about a delay. Communication equipment also includes ITV equipment that monitors passengers getting on and off trains, radios for communication between drivers and dispatchers and loudspeakers and clocks in stations. TEMS' maintenance and repair work ensures that staff and passengers in the station receive accurate information quickly. Communication equipment takes many forms, from wired to wireless. Our engineers receive specialist training on the equipment they handle, including obtaining qualifications, to ensure a high level of expertise.

Inspections

Inspections of ITV equipment for conductors

Cameras and monitors are set up so that conductors can see passengers getting on and off. We meticulously inspect the equipment at each station so that conductors can make sure everyone is safe when the doors close and the train starts to move.

Registration and inspections of train radios

Radios are used so that train drivers and dispatchers can communicate directly with instructions and other information. Railway companies that use these are required to order regular inspections of their base stations. TEMS is registered as a provider of inspections and related services by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the results of our inspections are used to determine whether our customers' equipment is compliant with laws and regulations.

Repairs

Repairs of anemometers

Anemometers are placed in areas of a railway that are easily affected by strong winds, such as bridges. When a wind speed over the limit is measured, trains must immediately slow down or suspend their services. We conduct regular repairs to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of wind speeds, keeping the railways we serve running safely and reliably.
