Attention has turned to renewable energy in recent years due to its low impact on the environment, particularly wind power stations, and further expansion is expected in future. TEMS is involved in inspections and safety management work for the electrical equipment in solar and wind power stations for customers such as JR East and its group companies. Renewable energy is a new area for the JR East Group, but with our years of experience in maintenance of electrical equipment for railways, we are the provider that the group trusts most.

Inspections

Inspections of solar panel performance (faults) at solar power stations

When a fault is found, such as a decrease in output from a solar panel, the faulty area first needs to be identified. When we inspect the performance of solar panels, we identify faults in equipment from the waveforms caused by changes in voltage and current using a measuring device. This enables us to find the faulty panel.

Inspections of grounding equipment at wind power stations

Lightning can break or scatter the blades of a turbine. To prevent this, grounding equipment is placed at the ends of the blades to divert lightning into the ground. We inspect the grounding equipment to ensure that electricity passes safely along the correct route, preventing the blades from being broken.
