Power Supply Equipment

Powering railways as a general engineering company

We keep JR East powered by inspecting and repairing all of its hydroelectric, thermoelectric and other power plants. The most critical requirement for the work we do is highly specialist electrical expertise. Working on facilities such as hydroelectric power plants and power lines also requires a strong knowledge of how our equipment interacts with the natural environment. As a general engineering company for electrical equipment used by railways, TEMS has the know-how to provide total services that encompass not only the electrical equipment that is directly involved in railway infrastructure but all of the equipment that powers a railway.

Inspections

On-site inspections (Kawasaki Thermal Power Station)

We inspect all of the equipment in the power station that is operated on a daily basis to ensure that there are no faults. Any sign of a potential fault, such as noise or vibration, is investigated to detect issues as soon as possible.

Inspections of power lines and transformers

We inspect all equipment such as power lines and transformers to ensure that power is supplied safely. Our inspections combine a variety of methods, such as measurements to quantify the condition of the equipment and visual inspections for corrosion in circuits, to ensure that there are no faults.

Repairs

Overhauls of generators (Shinanogawa Power Plant)

In addition to inspections of each part of the generators to ensure that there is no damage or wear, we regularly upgrade some of the equipment. As generators are such enormous pieces of equipment with so many components, the process from dismantling to reassembly and resumption of operation is the largest type of project we work on.
